Learning something new…
People I spoke with wanted opportunities to network and share resources, they wanted to learn, many wanted to help when needed, but didn’t know where to start…so, we are building what they wanted…the Blue Ridge Equine Society was established in the spring of 2022.
Jess Dahlgren, Founder/President
Our goal is to provide opportunities to network with other equine owners and enthusiasts in the greater Roanoke area (Botetourt, Roanoke, Salem, surrounding counties) while supporting local and national equine and other small animal rescue/care efforts. Our educational and recreational activities also offer learning and fun while promoting the local equine industry including local parks, professionals, and businesses.
Community. Education. Love of equine.

What BRES friends & members are saying…
You’re doing a good job and you have good people working with you too. It’s nice to see someone trying to create community.

Specific breeds or disciplines. All who appreciate equine are welcome. We try to be all inclusive.
Who is part of BRES?
Competitive endurance riders, retirees who trail ride, local riding instructors, dressage riders, equine shaped lawn ornament owners, natural horsemanship enthusiasts, 3 day eventers, and people who would love to ride again if the right equine presented itself…
We have mules, rescued ponies, BIG warmbloods, mini donkeys, ancient Quarter Horses, Fjords, Saddlebreds, Arabians, and some goats and chickens, a couple people even have a cow or two, along with lots of barn cats and a pup or three…
The point is, the love of equine is what has brought us together! All are welcome.
